CoderDojo will turn your "curious about computers" kiddo into a Coding Ninja! No previous experience is necessary, we will start from Scratch!
Join us at the library for a new club-- CoderDojo! Kids ages 8-12 are invited to get to know coding in this informal, educational, and fun setting! We will learn together and hone our computer coding skills to become Coding Ninjas. We start with Scratch and Code.org, and then decide what we want to learn about next. Older kids are welcome, too, and can become Youth Mentors in our club.
From the CoderDojo website: "The CoderDojo movement believes that an understanding of programming languages is increasingly important in the modern world, that it’s both better and easier to learn these skills early, and that nobody should be denied the opportunity to do so. To that end, we’ve built a global network of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Anyone aged seven to seventeen can visit a Dojo where they can learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment."
See coderdojo.com for more information on the movement.
